About L.L.Bean button
At L.L.Bean, we value the diversity of ideas, backgrounds and talents of our people and are committed to creating a culture that is open, trusting, and respectful to all. Supporting this type of culture is central to our values of integrity and respect for people.

Some of our actions in support of a respectful culture include:
  • Providing training in employees’ native language using iPods, as well as on-site interpreters.
  • Identifying positions where candidates who are English language learners can be successful.
  • Participating in a Work-Ready Training for New Americans and people who have been out of the workplace for a period of time for various reasons.
  • Participating in Seasoned Worker forums that reach out to retired workers looking to return to the workplace.
  • Extending medical and dental benefits to the Domestic Partners of benefit-eligible employees.
In 2007 L.L.Bean was among four Maine organizations that received an Excellence in Diversity Leadership award from the NAACP for the successful effort to employ members of the Somali community during our Holiday season.

L.L.Bean was also recognized in 2006 and again in 2008 by the AARP as one of the "Best Employers for Workers over 50.

We are active members of the Diversity Hiring Coalition of Maine, an organization that provides leadership and resources to help Maine employers increase, support, and retain racial and ethnic diversity in the workplace.
